The winds of change at Boeing: CEO Dave Calhoun to step down

The company is experiencing change. Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun announced his resignation by the end of 2024.

Calhoun’s resignation follows recent events such as Boeing’s cabin panel explosion and safety crises related to the 737 Max jets.

Until his resignation, Calhoun will continue to stabilize the company and position it for the future. Calhoun will be joined by Stan Deal, who heads Boeing’s commercial airplanes division. The deal will leave the company and Calhoun alone.

Stephanie Pope has been appointed head of Boeing’s commercial airplanes division. Pope will assume an important role at Boeing in this role.

On the other hand, Boeing has been shaken by various safety crises in recent years. However, to ensure their safety, people have started to search online whether the plane they will board is Boeing or not after buying a plane ticket. You can see here how high the level of concern is. After so many safety issues, I wouldn’t want to travel on a Boeing plane, either.

Boeing’s last years have been turbulent. Most recently, a brand new 737 Max 9 belonging to Alaska Airlines had to make an emergency landing, causing 171 Max 9s to be grounded.

In addition, the crash of Max 8 jets in 2018 and 2019, killing 346 people, was one of Boeing’s biggest safety crises.

It remains unclear how Calhoun’s departure will affect the Aerospace Xelerated program and how the program will affect Boeing’s innovation and entrepreneurship efforts.
