The U.S. may be a unique case, as feature phone sales in 2022 were primarily concentrated in the Middle East, Africa, and India, according to Counterpoint Research. Nevertheless, a shift is noticeable as more young Americans are revisiting the simplicity of dumb or minimalist phones.

“In North America, the market for dumb phones is pretty much flatlined,” says tech analyst Moorhead, “But I could see it getting up to a 5% increase in the next five years, if nothing else, based on the public health concerns that are out there.”
